CHRONIQUES / REVIEWS+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

LAND ANIMAL (landanimal.blogspot.com)
Trunks is a growing, swaying, reaching-for-the-stars French band taking root. They are awfully nice as well.

I HEART NOISE (www.ihrtn.com)
2-track EP from this French collective that contains one track with female vocals and one instrumental track. First one sounds a lot like what post-rock bands are doing until the female vocals kick in, while the second one is a bit more of a twisted electronic journey with wordless vocals. This EP is a great showcase of the band’s capabilities. Well done.

ROCTOBER (roctoberreviews.blogspot.com)
French cream that's amazingly light. Sweet art grooves that make you feel cooler just for having it touch your earhole.

BUILT ON A WEAK SPOT (www.builtonaweakspot.com)
Awhile back I was introduced to Trunks by the self-promotion and circulation of their video for “Are You Trunked?”, which I believe is from a previously released full-length. No matter the origin the song had me a bit intrigued as to what these French folks were up to. Days passed and eventually I was hit up again with what is supposed to be an upcoming 7-inch for the tracks “Kniee” and “Journey to the Line”. My initial reaction was that they were doing a bit of a similar deal as the excellent avant-garde noise making unit Zu. However the two songs here on this 7-inch are softer/moodier than anything I’d heard before and the flipside “Journey to the Line” certainly ventures into more subtle post-rock territory, although still incorporating the saxophone to make a large part of their sound. While these songs are nice and all, the b-side in particular, I’d almost prefer to hear the band do more with darker swampy sort of noise that I was initially introduced to. Regardless, this is still well worth giving a listen to and I suggest that you do.

MUSICBOOM (www.musicboom.it)

TASTY FANZINE (www.tastyfanzine.org.uk)
Trunks are a french sextet who know how to compose a really intimidating tune. This single showcases their abilities perfectly. The a-side, Kniee is the only track that features Laetitia Shériff's typically abstract lyrics, her vocals focussing on melody, rather than meaning, whilst the rest of the band burns with an incredible, restrained intensity.
there's something about these tracks that's almost scary to the listener, like how the scariest parts of a horror movie happen just offscreen. The band manipulates you, hinting at the deafening, cacophonous noise that they're clearly capable of, but just like that horror movie, they leave the rest up to the imagination of the audience. At times, the band drones disorientatingly, sounding like Sonic Youth at their best and at other times, a de-fuzzed Jesus and Mary Chain. especially on the instrumental b-side, Journey to the Line. it's a slow-burning affair which sounds like the amazing In The House - In A Heartbeat, from the 28 days later soundtrack, but just better. There are more amazing songs on this single than there have been on most other albums in recent years. Trunks are most definitely the type of band you need to hear at least once.

I WANNA ROCK YOU BABY (www.csakbennhajogerendazatto.freeblog.hu)
Amúgy elsőnek a kimondottan zseniális Use Less-t, aztán a sokkal könnyebb kislemezt nyomassátok.
